The Sound Of Brooklyn (TSOB) Records is a state-of-the-art recording studio and independent record label based in East New York Brooklyn, New York. More than just simply another upstart independent record label, TSOB was created at the dawn of the new Millennium as a vessel for communicating ideas and promoting careers for urban youth in the $15.0 billion global music industry, behind the scenes as well as in front of a microphone. TSOB Records Founder and former CEO Jo-EL turned over the reigns to TSOB Records Label to his daughter Samantha at the 47th Graduating Class Commencement Exercises of the prestigious Institute of Audio Research at Harlem’s World Famous Apollo Theater in New York City on Saturday June 25, 2016 as a gift to her for graduating from his Alma Mater.

SAMANTHA received a Professional Diploma “For the achievement of technical competence and professionalism demonstrated through the successful completion of the Audio Recording and Production Program.” SAMANTHA also successfully achieved the status of “Certified/User Pro Tools,” the professional industry-standard music and audio production software and hardware.

Jo-EL has experienced professional success as a real estate developer, sports agent, music entertainment manager and promoter, audio engineer, electronic music producer, and he fully recognizes the scope of possibilities within the recording industry.

Jo-EL is a Member of The Recording Academy (The GRAMMYs) since 2008 and a graduate of the prestigious Institute of Audio Research (IAR) in New York City, the recording capitol of the world. At IAR he mastered in-depth technical knowledge and hands-on skills of audio recording and production. Jo-EL is versed in the business of music as well as computer-centered digital audio and its applications in music production, editing, mixing, and musical instrument digital interface.

IAR Certificate Upon graduation from IAR, Jo-EL founded The Sound Of Brooklyn (TSOB) Records, a state-of-the-art recording studio and independent record label as a medium to transform the urban youth culture by producing quality music with a global reach. Jo-EL asserts, “Young people are entrenched in the world of sports, music and entertainment, and social media; that Hip-Hop/Rap is the culture of America’s urban youth; that Hip-Hop/Rap has become more than a music genre; that it is a culture embraced by youth worldwide; that it is their way of dressing, speaking, and behaving.”

TSOB School of Music’s curriculum includes a study of career tracks in the music and entertainment business, including starting up a small business, designing a job search, and managing a career. Resume, cover letter, note writing, and interviewing skills are reinforced. Specific focus on job planning and career resources in the music industry available from New York State Department of Labor CareerZone and the U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics — O*NET OnLine. Global aspects of career planning for the music industry are considered as well as opportunities for additional professional development and study at St. John’s University and the Institute of Audio Research. Personal resumes and career plans are developed.
